While there are physical rules/reticles that can be used with a microscope system, video based measuring provides significant advantages. Once calibrated, the video system can provide stable and repeatable measurements. With the memories provided on MicroImage measuring products, several calibrations can be recalled very quickly.

Video based measuring Is more precise and open to far less interpretation that reticle based systems since lines can be moved over top of the image and  an absolute distance between lines can be displayed and varied. It is the same as the difference between using a caliper verses a ruler for traditional measuring.

The video system display can be easily removed without disturbing the microscope and can be replaced in the exact same location easily with the push on a button.
