CBG350 and CBG450 series Color Bar Generators

The CBG350 and CBG450 series of color bar and test signal generators build on the standard set by our popular CBG310/CBG410 series with additional features and similar cost. The CBG350 unit will replace both the CBG310F and the CBG310S units.

The CBG350/CBG450 is designed to provide an accurate and affordable signal source for system testing. It also provides the necessary components for aligning color monitors to the proper brightness, color and hue.

The CBG350/CBG450 will generate a SMPTE style, split field color bar signal or a full field 100% white signal. The split field signal consists of the seven standard 75% bars including the left most gray bar in the top portion. Below this line is a small row of reverse bars that includes only those colors that have blue in them. This is primarily used for monitor chroma and phase adjustments. The bottom row consists of the standard -I, White, Q, Black and Pluge components. The Pluge signals make it very easy to properly adjust black level (brightness) on a video monitor.

The CBG350/CBG450 will usually fit in a toolbox with ease and even fit into a pocket. A rack mount kit is also available. Power is provided by a regulated 5VDC source and a small wall plug power module is included with the packaged CBG350/CBG450 but not with board level products.

The CBG350/CBG450 operate with both NTSC and PAL video systems, an internal switch selects the video standard. The CBG350 series generate standard composite and S-video encoded signals. The standard output connectors include a BNC connector for the composite output and the standard 4 pin Mini-DIN S-Video connector.

The CBG450 series generate either RGB video (CBG450R) or YUV/YPbPr signals (CBG450Y). These utilize a standard female 9 pin D-sub connector for the RGB or YUV connection. The CBG450 does not generate a separate sync signal, composite sync is on all three channels.

All units may be switched to monochrome mode via an internal switch.

The CBG350/CBG450 are available as packaged or as board level product. Board level products do not include the power supply and a 5VDC regulated power source must be provided. The standard board level product with a -01 suffix includes the standard video connectors that the cased product uses. For OEM applications, we can provide units with header and other connection types. Custom designed or modified versions are also available.
